Topin was the village alderman in Klucz. He was married, and had two flaxen haired daughters. Nothing is said of his appearance in the short story Droga, z której się nie wraca (included in Something Ends, Something Begins), but in the graphic novel Droga bez powrotu he is portrayed as being a middle-aged man with brown balding hair and a beard. He was garbed in the traditional wear of the peasantry, including a flat cap, and was adorned with beaded headwear and bracelets.
