The Trappers were a gang of trackers and slavers, led by Skomlik, who were tasked by the prefect of Amarillo to capture Ciri. The expedition was actually led by a Nilfgaardian knight, Sir Sweers, but the latter did not survive the return trip.[1]
History[]
Finding Ciri[]
In July 1267, the Trappers under Sweers' orders were scouring the western borders of the Korath desert for Ciri when they found her unconscious upon the bank of the Suchak river. A few days into their return with her, in the moorlands of Geso, they were stopped by the members of the House of Varnhagen, which resulted in Sweers fighting and dying, meanwhile killing both of his opponents. Ciri then attempted to escape, though she was captured and thrown at Skomlik's feet, who had just become de facto leader. He called over his brother-in-law Remiz, who had been a servent of the Varnhagen's, and invited him into the group, then reiterating she would be taken to Amarillo for the bounty.
Afterward they stopped in the village of Glyswen and met up with a fellow gang, the Nissir, at the inn. Skomlik, being old friends serving with their leader Vercta, was boisterous in his attempts to convince the Nissir to give up their captive Kayleigh to Amarillo or the local villagers, though Vercta explained their reward awaiting them in Tyffi. Seconds after Ciri and Kayleigh managed to get free from their restraints, thanks to a knife from the innkeeper, the Rats broke through the door and attacked the two groups, killing them all.[1]
