The Van Moorlehem was apparently an ordinary aristocratic Nilfgaardian family who enjoyed hunting and masquerade balls. However, when guests started disappearing during these balls, people soon stopped visting the family's palace; even poachers preferred to move their hunting spots away from the woods surrounding the Van Moorlehem's lands.
Actually, people's fear was extremely justified, since the Moorlehems used to hide a dreadful secret: every family member was secretly a vampire.
