Virfuril was Demavend III's father and King of Aedirn.
Biography[]
King Virfuril was known to prefer mages native to his country and so the senior mages originally had plans to allow Yennefer to become his advisor after her ascension. However, when it got out that she was part elf and thus could ruin Cintra's relations with Aedirn due to Cintra's hatred for elves, the senior mages decided to instead assign Fringilla Vigo to be Virfuril's advisor, upsetting Yennefer.
As Virfuril attended the Aretuzan ball the mages began to try and introduce him to Fringilla when Yennefer butted in, quickly introducing herself as from Vengerberg, Aedirn's capital. Discarding Fringilla, Virfuril immediately took to Yennefer and the two danced in the center floor, much to the other mages' ire.[1]
Decades later, Tissaia de Vries informs Yennefer that Virfuril has died, and the kingdom of Aedirn is ruled by his son, king Demavend.[2]
