Vrihedd was an elven brigade of the 4th Cavalry Army, Nilfgaardian mounted troops commanded by Major general Markus Braibant. Their emblem consisted of silver lightning bolts on their sleeves. The brigade was led by Isengrim Faoiltiarna.
The unit was noted for its cruel acts during the Second Northern War against Nordling civilians. Thus, after the Peace of Cintra, the Nilfgaardian Empire was forced to surrender every brigade officer who was accusated of war crimes: thirty-two officers were arrested and brought to Dillingen, Drakenborg and others forts of the North and executed after a show trial.
Notable members
The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings
During the animated cutscene "Pursuing the Wild Hunt", Geralt mentions that on 13 Semptember 1269 53 of the 55, (32 in the books) officers of the brigade were brought to the Ravine of the Hydra and executed, following the Peace of Cintra. The two who survived were Iorveth and Isengrim Faoiltiarna.
