Zerrikanian is the official language spoken in Zerrikania and is known almost solely by the inhabitants of that country.[1] Some Zerrikanian words, such as zefar, derive from Elder Speech.[2]

Notes[]

  • In Wiedźmin: Gra Wyobraźni, Zerrikanian language is said to derive from the Elder Speech, being its dialect. The writers might have been influenced to say so by two out of only three Zerrikanian words known from Sapkowski's book back then: vessekheal (its second half similar to the elven greeting hael) and zefar (confirmed to be the elder word zefhar).
    • Only saberra, the third Zerrikanian word known when Gra Wyobraźni writer were active, had no visible similarities to the Elder.
    • As with all languages, newer adaptations have since enriched the Zerrikanian with other real influences. CD Projekt RED deliberately named Azar Javed using Persian words for "eternal flame" to referrence his mastery of fire magic.[4] Meanwhile, The Witcher Role-Playing Game had drawn from Arabic vocabulary.
