Zerrikanterment was a legendary golden dragon and the most revered of all dragons worshipped as divine beings in Zerrikania. According to legend, he isolated Zerrikania from the rest of the world by burning the surrounding forests with his fiery breath, transforming the area into an oasis encircled by deserts and wastelands.
The legend tells that Zerrikanterment grew weary of the arrogance of Humans and Nonhumans on the Continent. He deemed some worthy of respect and chose to protect them by separating their land from the rest of the world. With his flames, he scorched the forests around their territory, creating an oasis amid deserts like the Korrath. In honor of their deity, the people named their land Zerrikania.
For centuries, Zerrikanterment patrolled the skies, guarding the land from hostile forces. Eventually, the dragon's descendants assumed the role of guardians over the country, a tradition that continues to this day. Among the Zerrikanian dragon cults, it is believed that the first dragon is not only a deity but also the creator of the land and the ruler of the world.
